Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will celebrate Vijayadashmi and perform ‘shastra puja’ in Bikaner along the India-Pakistan border, officials said on Sunday.
This is for the first time a senior Union Minister will conduct ‘shastra puja’ or worship of weapons along the border with Pakistan.
Mr. Singh will reach Bikaner on October 18 and celebrate the Vijayadashmi festival with soldiers of the Border Security Force (BSF) the next day and perform the ‘shastra puja’ at the Border Out Post in the forward areas, an official said. ‘Shastra puja’ is part of the Vijayadashmi festival which is celebrated for the victory of Lord Ram over Ravana.
Last year, he celebrated Vijayadashmi at Joshimath in Uttarakhand, along the border with China.
