2 TMC workers have been killed in last two days in West Bengal with the latest death being reported from North Bengal’s Cooch Behar. While another party worker was killed in North 24 Paraganas on Tuesday. Trinamool supporters have put the blame for both killings on BJP.
A Trinamool Congress worker was killed in public area in West Bengal’s North 24 Paraganas by bike-borne assailants on Tuesday.
Trinamool supporters have alleged BJP workers are behind these killing. CM Mamata Banerjee will be visiting the deceased, Nirmal Kundu’s residence on Thursday evening.
Nirmal Kundu was shot dead on the streets by the assailants who later fled. After looking at CCTV footage, police have arrested two people Suman Kundu and Sujay Das, who are known for their affiliation with the BJP.
Meanwhile, in another incident, TMC worker Ajijar Ali was killed in Cooch Behar on Wednesday. The killing triggered clashes in the Dinhata area.
Ajijar Ali was returning home when he was killed by alleged BJP workers. This has led to tension in the area.
On Thursday, Mamata Banerjee will be visiting Nirmal Kundu’s residence while Trinamool workers will be observing a black day for the killing.
On the contrary, BJP will hold a victory celebration in Naihati to celebrate securing the Naihati Municipality after the councilor recently moved to BJP. MP and state president Dilip Ghosh is expected to attend the celebrations.
Now, Bengal Food Minister Jyotipriya Mallick has thrown a challenge to BJP over the murders of TMC workers.
Nirmal Kundu was the president of ward 6 of North Dumdum municipality who was shot twice in the head near his house. The incident has caused an intense war of words between TMC and BJP workers.
Jyotipirya Mallick said, “This been done by BJP’s people. The accused BJP leader is associated with the supari killer who killed Nirmal. He even campaigned for them and met with BJP leaders.”
After the incident, police arrested Suman Kundu and Sujay Das allegedly linked to the shooting. The two were produced before the Barrackpore sub divisional court on Wednesday. Weapons and cartridges were found in their possession.
Police has mentioned that both the accused are BJP workers.
