Trump visit India on 24-25 February, Modi promised 5-7 million attend Gujarat event

US President Donald Trump and PM Narendra Modi’s bonhomie will be up for display once again later this month and this time the US President has said his Indian counterpart has promised him that millions and millions of people will attend the Gujarat event and also cheer them on at the airport.

A day after the White House announced Trump’s India visit on February 24 and 25, Donald Trump said on Tuesday he is looking forward to the India visit. He also said that he spoke to PM Modi over the weekend about his visit.

Joking about the ‘Howdy, Modi’ event in Houston last year or his own events in the US, Trump said it is not a good feeling when 50,000 people attend these gatherings.

“When we have 50,000 people, I’m not going to feel so good we’ll have five to seven million people just from the airport to the new stadium. And you know it is the largest stadium in the world.” Trump said.

Trump also said, “I look forward to going to India.” The Oval Office has announced that he will be travelling to Ahmedabad and New Delhi on February 24 and 25.

Speaking on PM Modi and the chemistry the two leaders share, Trump said, “He is a friend of mine. He’s a great gentleman.”

Last year, Modi had hosted a similar mega event in the United States, in Houston, which Donald Trump attended to see a massive gathering of 50,000 Indian-Americans cheering on the two leaders. The two leaders had met four times in 2019, further strengthening their personal bond.

‘Howdy, Modi!’ turned out to be a mega success and Donald Trump even called PM Modi a “rockstar”.

It turned out to be the largest-ever gathering hosted by a foreign politician in the US.
