All schools, colleges and universities remained closed as a precautionary measure for the third day on Wednesday in the Kashmir valley, where separatists have called for “ Shopian Challo” to express solidarity with the families of those killed in Sunday violence.
Four civilians were killed in south Kashmir and another in Ganderbal in central valley and over 40 others injured in security force action on demonstrators who hit the streets after the killing of 13 militants, including top commanders, in three different encounters on Sunday.
Three soldiers were also martyred and several others injured in encounters on Sunday in south Kashmir.
“All schools and colleges will remain closed today also as a precautionary measure to avoid any law and order problem in Kashmir valley,” the officials said.
The Kashmir University (KU), Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) and Central University of Kashmir (CUK) have also suspended all class work and postponed all examinations and interviews which scheduled from Monday.
