SC stays proceedings in Delhi-Mumbai HC levying GST on sanitary napkins case

The Supreme Court on Monday stayed the proceedings in Delhi and Bombay High Courts in connection with levying GST (Goods and Services Tax) on sanitary napkins.
A three-judge bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra and also comprising Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud, stayed the proceedings in Delhi and Bombay High Courts on levying the GST on sanitary napkins matter.
The top court also issued notice to the petitioners on the issue, and said, “we would examine the matter”.
The apex court said, it would examine if all the matters pertaining to the case of levying GST on sanitary napkins case, should be heard by the top court or not.
The central government had sought that all the cases pertaining to levying GST on sanitary napkins should be heard by the apex court.
