A petition was filed in the Supreme Court on Monday for a SIT (Special Investigation Team) probe into the alleged Punjab National Bank scam to the tune of Rs 11,500 crores.
The apex court has neither fixed nor given any date for hearing the plea of lawyer Manohar Lal Sharma.
But it is expected that the matter would come up for hearing within one-two weeks, as per the Supreme Court registry.
Mr Sharma contended that the PNB scam allegedly to the tune of Rs 11,500 crores approximately should be investigated by a SIT.
Keeping in view the magnitude and the enormity of the alleged involvement of accused persons in the case, only a SIT probe can unearth the truth, Mr Sharma contended.
The SIT should incorporate a retired Supreme Court judge, and be under the supervision of the apex court and must be monitored by it, Mr Sharma submitted in his 13-page petition.
