More than 10 crore families will be provided health assurance worth Rs five lakh each, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi rolls out the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) at a function in Ranchi of Jharkhand, on September 23.
Mr Modi will visit an exhibition on PMJAY, touted as the biggest health care scheme, to be launched in the country. He will witness a demonstration of activities, such as beneficiary identification and e-card creation.
At the event, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for medical colleges at Chaibasa and Koderma. He will also inaugurate 10 Health and Wellness Centres, apart from address the gathering, before departing for Gangtok, Sikkim.
On September 24, Mr Modi will inaugurate the Pakyong Airport, which will bring Sikkim on the country’s aviation map. The airport will provide a big boost to connectivity in the Himalayan state, and give a fillip to tourism.
On his arrival at the Pakyong Airport, Mr Modi will be briefed about the airport and the terminal building. He will unveil a plaque to mark the inauguration of Pakyong Airport, before addressing a gathering, a statement said here.
