Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter on Sunday, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar wrote ‘Prime Minister of India @narendramodi will visit China on 27 & 28 April for an Informal Summit with President of China Xi Jinping in the city of Wuhan.’
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj met her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi and discussed a host of bilateral issues and reviewed various aspects of bilateral relations and discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest.
After meeting Mr Wang, Ms Swaraj said, ‘We are also happy that the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through the Nathu La route will be resumed this year,’ according to another tweet of Mr Kumar.
She conveyed India’s appreciation to the Chinese side for their confirmation on resumption of data sharing on Brahmaputra and Sutlej rivers in 2018, Mr Kumar said.
Ms Swaraj has arrived in Beijing on Saturday to take part in the foreign ministers’ meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). She was received by Wang at the Diaoyutai State Guest House in Beijing ahead of their bilateral meeting.
The informal Summit will be an important occasion for them to exchange views on bilateral and international matters from an over-arching and long-term perspective with the objective of enhancing mutual communication at the level of leaders.
Ms Swaraj also wished the Chinese Foreign Minister all success for SCO Foreign Ministers Meeting to be held on April 24.
She will be flying to Mongolia from China.
