PM Modi should express remorse for not speaking in Parliament: Congress

Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to hold a fast on April 12, the Congress on Tuesday said the PM should express remorse for not speaking in Parliament on the burning issues facing the country.

Talking to reporters here, AICC Media In-charge Randeep Surjewala, reacting to the announcement that Mr Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah would hold a fast on April 12, said, ‘Mr Modi and the BJP wasted 250 hours of Parliament and insulted the temple of Democracy.

‘The PM should express remorse and hold a fast for not being accountable to Parliament. Mr Modi and his government should have spoken in Parliament on the burning issues facing the country like the CBSE paper leak, the dilution of the SC/ST Act, demand for special status for Andhra Pradesh, the Cauvery issue, the non-fulfillment of the promise of two crore jobs to the youth and the alleged irregularities in the deal for Rafale fighter jets, but they did not do so.’

The BJP MPs, including Mr Modi and Mr Shah, are observing fast on April 12 to protest the disruption of Parliament by the Congress.
