Amid the prices of Petrol and Diesel hitting a high and the continuing fall in the value of Rupee vis-a-vis the US dollar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held a meeting with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Finance Secretary Hasmukh Adhia, sources said.
Though details of the meeting were not known, sources said that Mr Jaitley discussed with the PM the sharp rise in international crude oil prices and the continuous fall in value of the Rupee vis-a-vis the US dollar and its adverse impact on the economy.
Sources said another meeting between the PM, the Finance Minister and the Finance Secretary could be held on Saturday. The Opposition parties, including the Congress, have been attacking the government on sharp rise in prices of Petrol and Diesel and continuous fall in the value of the Rupee. They had called a Bharat bandh on the issue on September 10.
