With three more persons succumbing in last 24 hours, toll due to deadly Nipah Virus (NiV) infection climbed to 17 in northern Kerala.
Sources said Karassery native Akhil (28) , Madhusoodanan of Palazhi and Rasin (25) of Naduvannur in the district were succumbed of higher fever caused by NiV in different hospitals.
Their blood samples were tested positive for the NiV.
Earlier 14 persons died of the NiV in Kozhikode and Malappuram districts since May 5.
They said another 11 persons were under close observation for NiV in Kozhikode Medical College.
Besides, the health condition of 1353 persons were being monitored in various hospitals in the state.
Meanwhile, medical department sources said medicine to effectively contain the disease was being imported from Australia.
Stating human monoclorine is expected in two days, they said documentation for the purpose has already been completed.
