Congress president Rahul Gandhi took a potshot at PM Narendra Modi and said that when he talks about UPA government’s surgical strikes and says that they were done in video games, he is insulting the Indian Army.
Addressing the media on Saturday morning in Delhi, Rahul Gandhi said, “The Army, Air Force or Navy are not personal properties of Narendra Modi ji like he thinks. When he says that surgical strikes during UPA were done in video games then he is not insulting Congress but the Army.”
Several BJP leaders, including PM Modi and Amit Shah, have time and again slammed the Congress for failing to act against terror whereas BJP conducted surgical strikes and airstrikes inside Pakistani territory. Rahul Gandhi also said that Congress does not politicise the armed forces unlike BJP.
Earlier, former PM Manmohan Singh said in an interview that the UPA government had conducted multiple surgical strikes but never used them to seek votes in elections.
Modi Government has be destroyed
Rahul Gandhi also said that the Modi government has been destroyed by the Congress and it will not come back to power.
He also said, “Modi knows he is losing and it shows on his face.” He also added that, Modi will remain as a PM for only next 15 to 20 days.
Speaking on the contempt of court case being fought in the Supreme Court, Rahul Gandhi said that he made a mistake and has apologised to the Supreme Court, but not to PM Modi or BJP.
“Process is going on in Supreme Court and I made a comment and attributed it to the SC so I apologised. I did not apologise to BJP or Modi ji. Chowkidar Chor hai will remain our slogan,” said Rahul Gandhi at the media address.
Towards the end of the press conference Rahul Gandhi took a jibe at the Prime Minister and said he should also hold similar press conferences as it is looking bad now.
“We have foreign journalists sitting with us here and it is looking very bad on the international stage. As him to hold some of these press conferences also,” said Rahul Gandhi.
