MS Dhoni has been declared fit for the fifth and the final ODI of the series against New Zealand that will be played in Wellington on Sunday.
India’s assistant coach Sanjay Bangar confirmed that Dhoni is fit and will be playing the final ODI. The wicketkeeper-batsman had missed the third and the fourth ODI due to a hamstring strain. He trained with the team ahead of the fourth ODI but wasn’t named in the playing XI.
In his absence, Dinesh Karthik walked into playing XI and kept wickets in those two ODIs. He played a match-winning innings of 38* in the third ODI, sharing 77 runs for the fourth wicket with Ambati Rayudu (40*) to lead India to a series victory. In the fourth ODI, however, the middle-order crumbled as Karthik, Rayudu and Kedar Jadhav were dismissed on 0,0, and 1 respectively.
