Comparing the present political scenario with the battle of Kurukshetra, Congress president Rahul Gandhi likened the BJP to ‘Kauravas’ and the Congress to the ‘Paddavas’, and said like the ‘Paddavas’ his party would fight for the truth and win the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
In his closing address to the 84th plenary session of the Congress, Rahul said,”Centuries ago there was a huge battle on the field of Kurukshetra. The Kauravas were powerful and arrogant. The Pandavas were humble and fought for the truth. Like Kauravs, BJP is designed to fight for power, but like the Pandavs Congress will fight for the truth.”
Rahul said that people had higher expectations from the Congress than from the BJP.
‘’Congress can never be like BJP. The people of this country will accept a man accused of murder as BJP president. They will accept a man drunk with power in the BJP, but will never accept the same in the Congress.
This is because the BJP will have higher expectations from the Congress. Congress party understands deeply that we are for truth. India expects more from Congress because it holds us to a higher standard. The public will punish us if we do not match up to the standards. This is because BJP is voice of a organisation, while Congress is the voice of the nation,’’ Rahul said.
In a potshot at the RSS for their non participation in the freedom struggle, Rahul said, ’’the people of the country will never forget that when Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi spent 15 years in jail , their (RSS) leaders Savarkar wrote a letter begging for mercy.
On the other hand, every single state of the country has a list of people who shed their blood for the country.’’ Attacking the Modi Government on the issue of lack of jobs, farmers distress and the bank scams in the country, he charged the Government and Prime Minister Modi of maintaining a silence on these problems and instead trying to divert attention of the people from them.
‘’The government always says that India is the fastest growing economy in the world. But today millions of youth face unemployment. People have no jobs. Farmer are committing suicide, but Modiji says “chalo yoga karte hain”. PM diverts our attention and jumps from one event to another from Gabbar Singh tax to yoga in Parliament, but never talks about the issues,’’Rahul said
