Holding the coalition government between the PDP and the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir as responsible for the vicious cycle of killings in the state, senior Congress leader and former Home Minister P Chidambaram on Tuesday said Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti should break her party’s coalition with the BJP and go back to the philosophy of her father.
In a series of tweets, Mr Chidambaram said, ”Share J&K CM’s concern that statesmanship required to get J&K out of the vicious cycle of killings. Sad that she does not see that her coalition government is the core of the problem.”
”The central government’s muscular, militaristic approach to the J&K issue has driven the State towards the present catastrophic situation. Mehbooba Mufti should break her party’s unholy and opportunistic coalition with the BJP and go back to the philosophy of her father,” Mr Chidambaram said.
Ms Mufti said on Monday night that she is ashamed that a tourist from Tamil Nadu died after suffering injuries during protests near Srinagar.
