J&K: 2 terrorists of Jaish-e-Mohammed killed and one Army jawan martyred in Anantnag encounter

Two terrorists have been killed and one Army jawan martyred in an encounter between terrorists and joint forces in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district’s Bijbehara Tuesday morning. Both the terrorists belonged to Jaish-e-Mohammed.

The encounter started after the area was cordoned on specific input. Two terrorists were believed to be trapped.

Security forces launched a search operation predawn. The terrorists threw a grenade in which one Army jawan was injured and later died of injuries.This is the second encounter in less than 24 hours in the area.

In the earlier incident a day ago, an Army Major was killed while another officer and two troopers were injured in the encounter. As per the details, the encounter took place when the security forces had launched a cordon and search operation.

Local people and officials said, In another incident in Pulwama, an Army special forces convoy, on its way at Arihal village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, was also attacked by an Improvised Explosive Device.

Five jawans were injured in the attack. The site of the blast is 27 km from the area where a convoy carrying security personnel was attacked by a suicide bomber on February 14 in which 40 CRPF troopers were killed.
