Infant of almost two months of age died due to the poverty of parents and lack of health facilities, as claimed the parents and local people here in the bordering subdivision of Gandacharra in the northern district of Dhalai on Tuesday last.
According to the allegation of the father of the deceased boy Ranajoy Tripura, identified as Lalitmohan Tripura, “Our baby Ranajoy started vomiting on Tuesday morning after breastfeeding. We immediately took him to local health centre. From there he was referred to Sub-divisional hospital in Gandacharra. But as the government ambulance was not available, I took him hiring a private vehicle.
In Gandacharra, the doctors made me to buy medicines of more than Rs 500 and referred the baby to Agartala Medical College and Hospital(AGMC). But the authority couldn’t provide ambulance and I had no ability to hire a vehicle. As a result, the baby died in the afternoon”.
Having no money, the parents got into another dilemma to take the corpse to home. At last, with the help of some local people, they went back home late at night.
