India wants African countries to develop together with mutual trust, respect

India on Monday offered African countries an opportunity to develop together based on mutual trust and respect.  Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu told visiting African dignitaries: ‘let us develop together on a foundation  of mutual trust and respect’.

He was interacting with the Vice Presidents of Zimbabwe, Gen. (Rtd.) Dr. Constantino Chiwenga, (Uganda)  Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi, and Malawi, Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima as well as the Secretary General for  Burundi, Major General Ndayishimiye Evariste at a luncheon hosted at the Hyderabad House, here.

Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and other dignitaries were present. The Vice President expressed happiness at the growing friendship and bilateral ties between India and various African countries, an official release here said.

He offered traditional ‘angavastrams’ to the visiting dignitaries and explained about India’s rich cultural heritage in which guests are treated like ‘gods’ – Atithi Devo Bhava.  The visiting dignitaries thanked the Vice President for the warmth and hospitality and they invited him to visit
their countries.
