The Chief Electoral office of Uttar Pradesh on Friday convened a meeting of the state government department for handicap welfare, Bharat Scout Guide and NSS (National service scheme) to consider various measures for providing facilities to differently abled people with the aim of ensuring their participation in the electoral process.

The meeting decided to conduct a survey for differently abled people in each district of the state. For the physically challenged persons special facilities will be provided at the polling booths like shade, drinking water facility, ramp, toilet to enable such persons to cast their votes without any difficulty.

The Election commission will identify such voters in each of state assembly constituency and a nodal officer will be appointed for each of the constituency.
Separate tagging is also proposed to be done in the electoral rolls in booth level register.
