With the festival of Janmashtmi to be celebrated in the capital on Monday that will include prominent functions and festivities at temples across the city, Delhi Police has decided to put traffic arrangements and have issued an advisory.
On the occasion, many mandir samities will also take out Janamashtami shobha yatras, processions comprising of rath, jhankies, bands,in several parts of the capital and thereby traffic will be diverted as per requirement wherein no parking will be allowed on the routes of the processions, police said on Sunday.
Due to large number of devotees who are likely to visit temples, between Monday evening to Tuesday morning’s early hours, restrictions around Laxmi Narain Mandir on Mandir Marg during Janamashtami functions will be in place 1400 hours onwards on Monday, wherein no vehicle will be allowed on Mandir Marg from round about Talkatora Stadium towards Mandir Marg upto Peshwa Road – Mandir Marg T-point and vice-versa. Similarly no vehicle will be allowed on Mandir Lane from round about Shankar Road to Mandir Marg.
Buses originating from Shivaji Stadium and going towards Mandir Marg will be diverted towards Panchkuian Road or towards the round about at GPO as per the routes of the buses.
Restrictions for commercial vehicles and buses have also been put that will include , Panchkuian Road to Mandir Marg ‘T’-Point towards Mandir Marg,Round About at GPO & Kali Bari Marg to Bhai Veer Singh Marg towards Kali Bari Marg, Round About at Gole Market towards Peshwa Road, Kali Bari Marg – Udyan Marg towards Mandir Marg, Peshwa Road towards Mandir Marg, Peshwa Road-Udyan Marg T-point towards Mandir Marg, Round ABout at Talkatora Stadium towards Mandir Marg, Kali Bari Marg- R.K. Ashram Marg towards Mandir Marg 9, Mandir Lane from Roun about at Shankar Road to Mandir Marg and Park Street – RK Ashram Marg T-Point towards Kali Bari Marg.
Similarly, restrictions around ISKCON Temple will also be in place at Sant Nagar, Amar Colony. The eastern carriageway of Raja Dheer Sain Marg between Capt. Gaur Marg and Sant Nagar, towards ISKCON Temple shall be pedestrianized.
Motorists may use Captain Gaur Marg and Outer Ring Road to reach their destinations in that area. In West Delhi, for Janamashtami Park Punjabi Bagh on Ring Road diversion of commercial goods vehicles will be done as per the need at Ring Road – Raja Garden Crossing, Ring Road – Rajdhani T-Point, Club Road ‘T’-Point (Punjabi Bagh), Britannia Crossing, Wazirpur Flyover (Ring Road), Punjabi Bagh Crossing (Round about and Fly over), Moti Nagar Crossing, Karampura T-Point and Shivaji Park Crossing (Rohtak Road) accordingly.
In the New Delhi District’s Laxmi narayan Temple, entry to the main Mandir will be from Mandir Marg only which can be approached either from Kali Bari Marg side or Peshwa Road.
Entries will be through D.F.M.Ds. installed on either side. Public is requested to co-operate with the security personnel for their safety. Hand bags, briefcases, parcels, food packets, Cameras, Mobile phones and other battery operated equipments are not permitted.
As is well known, visitors to the Mandir will have to remove their footwear before passing through the D.F.M.Ds. leading to the Mandir Gates, arrangements have been made for depositing the footwear by the Mandir authorities in stalls adjacent to Kali Bari Marg and Hindu Maha Sabha office on Peshwa Road, said the police.
Entry to the Geeta Bhawan and the Vatika will be only through main Mandir Gates. All other entry gates to the Mandir Complex will remain closed.
No vehicular traffic will be allowed on Mandir Marg between Panchkuian Road R/A, Park Street R/A on Kali Bari Marg, Udyan Marg and Peshwa Road, said the police.
