The Delhi Congress on Friday held a demonstration outside the residence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over sealing of non-polluting household industries and shops in the city.
The demonstration carried under the leadership of Delhi chief Ajay Maken, was also joined by owners and employees of small scale no-polluting industrial units and traders besides party workers.
The demonstrators carried banners and placards with slogans attacking the Kejriwal Government. Addressing the demonstrators, Mr Maken said, ”due to illegal sealing drive, not only the owners of small non-polluting household industries but traders and lakhs of workers have been rendered unemployed. ”
He also alleged that the BJP Government at the Centre and the AAP Government in Delhi have totally failed to present a strong case in favour of the small industrial units and traders before the Monitoring Committee and the court.
Mr Maken said that when it comes to provide relief to the non-polluting small industrial units and traders, the AAP Government backs out on one pretext or another to save its own skin.
The Dehi Congress chief said that those non-polluting industries should be allowed to carry out their works which have proof of doing work before 1.8.1990. Mr Maken also claimed that on 16.2.2006 the Supreme Court had given permission for these establishments to function.
Besides Mr Maken, prominent others who participated in the demonstration also includes ex-MPs Sajjan Kumar and Ramesh Kumar, chief media co-ordinator Sharmistha Mukherjee, former Delhi Ministers Arvinder Singh Lovely and Haroon Yusuf .
