Collection of PM Narendra Modi Film on box office, Vivek Oberoi film faces Monday blues

Though Vivek Oberoi’s PM Narendra Modi biopic had a rather bleak opening of Rs 2.88 crore, it soon picked up over the weekend. PM Narendra Modi raked in around Rs 5.12 crore on its third day, after earning Rs 3.76 on its second day. However, the film is expected to face Monday blues and rake in around Rs 2 crore, bringing its total collection to around Rs 13 crore approx on Monday.

The film has been panned by critics, who have called it practical deification of the Prime Minister. In which Pm Modi has been described as a Saint.

The biopic has been at the heart of a controversy ever since it was announced, as it was called a brazen propaganda film. PM Narendra Modi biopic was initially scheduled to release on April 12 and was stalled by the Election Commission of India as Opposition Parties said that the film could sway voters at the Lok Sabha Elections 2019.

It was later released on May 24 a day after the Bharatiya Janata Party had a landslide victory at the elections.

PM Narendra Modi biopic tells the story of the Prime Minister from the days of his abject poverty to becoming the Prime Minister of India in 2014. Directed by Omung Kumar, the cast also includes Rajendra Gupta as Modi’s father, Manoj Joshi as Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah.

It highlights the struggles of this man, who fought his way from selling tea in train compartments and sleeping in caves to 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. On the way, it caricatures the Opposition, Congress, Indira Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi… and robs Manmohan Singh of his voice altogether. So much so, that Anupam Kher as Singh in The Accidental Prime Minister from earlier this year feels worthy of an Oscar.”

Vivek Oberoi shared a thank you note with his fans on Twitter.

“A big thank you to all of you for sending your love from all over the world and for all the kind words. Your blessing and love mean everything to me. I am truly humbled. Hope the journey of a common man who becomes a great leader continues to inspire! Jai Hind #PMNarendraModi,” he wrote.
