“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been showing outstanding leadership in handling the Rohingya refugees. The Commonwealth leaders must support her,” said the Canadian PM while addressing the first Executive Session of the 25th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in London on Thursday.
The Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said: “Justin Trudeau made this appreciation as British Prime Minister Theresa May opened the floor for intervention after the presentation of the Commonwealth secretary general’s report.”
Since August, 2017, nearly 700,000 Rohingyas have fled Myanmar’s Rakhine state and took refuge in Bangladesh as the Myanmar military started an operation against the Muslim minorities. The international community including the USA, Canda and the United Nations has already mentioned it ‘ethnic cleansing.
