eacting to the comments by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, charging the Congress of having turned Bengaluru into a ‘potholed’ capital, party president Rahul Gandhi on Friday said the PM’s remarks were insulting to the ‘Garden city’.
In a post on social media, Mr Gandhi said data showed that the Congress government in Karnataka had spent 1100 per cent more on building cities, as compared to the BJP government.
‘Dear PM, Calling Bengaluru, the garden city & the pride of India a ‘garbage city’ is insulting. Building lies comes naturally to you, but you seem to find building cities very difficult. The data nails your lies,’ he said in a tweet.
Addressing a rally in Karnataka on Thursday, the PM had said, ‘Bengaluru is a cosmopolitan city. The Congress is trying to bring a culture of chaos here. The talented youth of Karnataka transformed the state into a Startup capital, but the Congress government turned it into a pot-hole capital.’
