Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited(BSNL) , a public sector telecom company, on Saturday launched internet based mobile telephony service ‘WINGS’ that will enable the users to make call on any telephone number in the country without using SIM.
Speaking on the occasion S.K. Gupta, Chief General Manager of Punjab circle said for using the customer would not require any SIM or mobile network. To avail this, customers have to download app ‘SIP’ in their smart phone and connect it to Wi-Fi of any service provider including BSNL and they will able to calls on any network across the country, he added.
To a question he said there will be one time registration charges of Rs 1099/- to avail this service which has started now and will be activated July 25 onwards.
On strengthening the network Mr Gupta said that data growth in the circle has increased five times and second gateway of double bandwidth has been open for free flow of data transmission. besides it, Base Transceiver Stations(BTS) set up on all 2325 mobile towers are being upgraded up to 4G with latest technology in phased manner, he informed.
