Charging the BJP of infringing into the privacy of people, the Congress alleged that the ruling party was now preparing to collect personal information of individuals in violation of their right to privacy.
Talking to reporters here, AICC spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that in order to keep a watch on social media, the Government was preparing a social media analytical tool through which the personal information of individuals would be collected.
He said that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued a tender for this. ”It has been stated in the tender that a software be created through which messages on social media sites like Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, Twitter etc. can be monitored. The Ministry has issued a tender of Rs 42 crores for this. The tender notice is of 62 pages and its page 40 says that it wants to create a tool through which the data from the social media can be obtained,” he said.
Terming it as an assault on the privacy of the individual, he said,”the Modi government is violating the right to privacy of the people. If , with the help of this software all the personal information of the people can be read, listened and seen, then where is the privacy?”
The spokesman alleged that during the four years of its rule, the Modi government has repeatedly tried to get personal information of people .
He said that personal information of people was taken from people through Namo App and 13 lakh NCC cadets were asked to give their personal information.
