Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on Monday visited former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the All India Institute of Medical sciences (AIIMS), a release from the Prime Minister’s office said.
The 93-year-old leader will be under the supervision of AIIMS Director Randeep Guleria. Vajpayee he has been admitted on doctors’ advise. Vajpayee was India’s PM between 1998-2004. Due to his deteriorating health, Vajpayee slowly withdrew from public life. The former PM has been confined to his residence for many years.
The Prime Minister, who was at AIIMS for about 50 minutes, interacted with family members of Mr Vajpayee. He also spoke to Doctors and inquired about the health of Mr Vajpayee.
Earlier on Monday, BJP chief Amit Shah and Congress president Rahul Gandhi visited the former Prime Minister. Mr Vajpayee was on Monday admitted to AIIMS for a routine check up.
‘Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been admitted for routine check-up and investigations. He has been kept in CCU and will be under the supervision of Dr. Randeep Guleria, Director, AIIMS,’ the AIIMS said in a statement.
