Supreme Court on Friday upheld the stand taken by the Central government in seizing the alleged and ill gotten properties of underworld don, Dawood Ibrahim, in parts of Mumbai.
The apex court directed Government of India to seize Dawood’s properties. A division bench, headed by Justice R K Agrawal, dismissed the plea filed by Dawood’s late mother, Amina B Kaskar and sister, Hasina Parkar, against the attachment of the proceedings of the properties.
The Centre had earlier filed a detailed report before the Supreme Court and had said that the properties in Nagpada of Dawood had been acquired using “undeclared and ill gotten income” from criminal activities. Hasina and Amina had moved the apex court challenging the stand of the Central government.
