Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Tuesday took a jibe against his own party colleague Sushil Modi and BJP’s Bihar allies–JDU and Lok Janshakti Party for attending an iftar party.
According to the sources, after many leaders who attended the party slammed Giriraj Singh’s comment, BJP president and Home Minister Amit Shah also rebuked Giriraj Singh for the comment. Amit Shah has also warned Giriraj Singh against making such statements in future.
Earlier in the day, Singh mocked BJP allies and his own party colleague in a tweet, tagging pictures where several leaders of alliance parties could be seen having a good laugh at the iftar party.
Pictures highlighted by Singh featured Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, dy CM Sushil Kumar Modi of the BJP, LJP’s Ram Vilas Paswan and his son Chirag Paswan.
The iftar party was hosted by Jitan Ram Majhi’s Hindustan Awam Morcha, who could be seen in the picture as well.
Giriraj Singh said these pictures would have been much better if a Navaratri meal would have been organised with the same eagerness. “Why do we back our own faith and stay ahead in pretending?” he asked.

Singh made the comments amid rising tension between JDU and BJP over allocation of cabinet berths. While JDU backed out from joining PM Modi’s government as one cabinet rank was unacceptable, it left only one spot for the BJP when Nitish Kumar expanded his state cabinet and inducted eight JDU ministers.
Soon after Giriraj Singh made the comment, JDU spokesperson Sanjay Singh slammed the Union minister, saying that has a “habit” of making such statements and should get a mental check-up done.
Commenting on the Union minister’s comment, CM Nitish Kumar said Giriraj Singh did this with the intention of garnering media attention.
Sushil Modi further added to Nitish Kumar’s statement and criticised Giriraj Singh for his statement. He said, “I am proud to be a Hindu, and I also organize Iftar meet, I also organize Holi celebrations. And those who are making matters tense do not even organise a gathering or ceremony for Holi, iftar is a distant thing.”
Meanwhile, LJP chairman Chirag Paswan also criticised Giriraj Singh for his comment and said: “With the establishment of the Lok Janshakti Party, the fundamental idea of everyone, everyone’s development, and everyone’s faith is connected to the soul of the party.”

“I am happy that the original mantra has been reputed by the honorable Narendra Modi ji. Such questions raise finger on the Indian tradition,” Paswan added.
Giriraj Singh, who has a reputation of making controversial statements, is a Union minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet. He is the current Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries.
