After his speech on the high voltage National Register of Citizens (NRC) was disrupted in the Rajya Sabha, BJP chief Amit Shah is now likely to visit Kolkata to take the battle on the issue to the Trinamool camp.
“Our national president Amit Shah is likely to visit Kolkata and expose the vote bank politics of parties like Trinamool Congress. Leaders like Mamata Banerjee are now playing their selfish games at the cost of country’s internal security,” a key party leader said.
Meanwhile, in a Twitter missive, Trinamool Congress leader Derek O’ Brien said the BJP leaders are welcome into the “land of peace and harmony” – that is Kolkata and West Bengal.
“BJP and its national President (Shah) have become nervous, tense. Their programme for Aug 3 in Kolkata was promptly granted permission. For their Aug 11 program, they only just sent a letter and permission granted,” Mr O’ Brien tweeted.
“Happy journey to the land of peace and harmony,” he said.
The BJP Yuva Morcha has sought police permission for Mr Shah’s rally in Kolkata on August 11.
