20 Inch rain in only 16 hours in Vadodara, 22 trains were cancelled and two flights were diverted to Ahmedabad

Vadodara city and nearby areas in Gujarat were pounded by heavy rains yesterday creating a flood-like situation. It was around 20 Inch rain in only 16 hours. Rains also lashed other parts of the state including Ahmedabad city and central Gujarat. The IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places across Gujarat today.
All schools and colleges in the Vadodara will remain closed today. Vadodara railway station has been shut down and as many as 22 trains were cancelled, while two flights were diverted to Ahmedabad due to water-logging.
The state government asked the local administration to shift people from low-lying areas in Vadodara to safer places. NDRF teams have also been deployed for the evacuation.
The IMD’s latest forecast said several parts of Gujarat, including Saurashtra, would receive “heavy to very heavy rains” during the next two days. Stay tuned to IndiaToday.in for all the live news updates.
