The cricketing legend Virender Sehwag and Harshavardhan Neotia, Chairman of Ambuja Neotia Group today celebrated the publication of the book, “Eleven
Gods and A Billion Indians” capturing the on and off the field story of cricket in India and beyond, authored by the Indian sports scholar and journalist Boria Majumdar at Ecospace.
Simultaneously Virender Sehwag, Manoj Tewari & Jhulan Goswami did the unveiling of the Bengali version of the book at the venue making the occasion even more special. Recently, Indian Cricket Captain Virat Kohli & Former Captain Sourav Ganguly has launched the book in Kolkata on April 7 last.
The evening started with a well-curated ceremony where everyone cheered for the former Indian cricket captain and opening batsman Virender Sehwag. Presence of Mr. Harshavardhan Neotia and the curator of Fanattic Sports Museum, Mr Boria Majumdar added to this gala celebration. Students from New Town school & Aditya School of Sports Academy was present to gift Virender Sehwag a beautiful portrait, created by them to welcome him during the ceremony.
The legendary former Indian cricket player was all praise for Boria Majumdar’s “Eleven Gods and a Billion Dreams” at the ceremony. The book goes behind the
scenes of India’s most popular sport—going from early tours in 1886 to the contemporary IPL and offers a complete understanding of the evolution of the
game both on and off the field. It not only offers lively anecdotes for readers but also never seen before photographs, interviews & letters.
The book is already a bestseller and has been published to rave reviews across all media platforms Kolkata has always been very passionate with about sports. With the ongoing IPL 2018, fever all over, Virendra Sehwag’s visit and his conversation with Mr Boria Majumdar on the book will only add to induce curiosity about the book among all sports lovers.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr Majumdar said, “I am extremely grateful to Virender Sehwag for taking time out to celebrate the publication of my book. It was a conscious decision on my part to invite him for the ceremony.
