Expressing its concern on the sharp rise in incidents of violations by Pakistan along the line of control, the Congress on Monday said that the government has failed to take any concrete steps to maintain nationals security in the country.
Talking to reporters here, AICC spokesperson and Congress Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Tewari expressed concern over the deaths of soldiers in incidents of cross border violations by Pakistan.
In this context, he said that in the 44 months of the Modi government, there has been a nearly 500 per cent increase in the incidents of ceasefire violations by Pakistan.”In 44 months of the NDA government, there have been 160 ceasefire violations along the LoC,’’he said.
He said that in the 44 months of this government, a total of 340 soldiers have died in the incidents of ceasefire violations while 194 civilians have lost their lives. ‘This year, in January itself, ten soldiers have lost their lives,’’he said.
‘’During the rule of the NDA, Pakistan has violated the ceasefire 2474 times. So far this year 160 such incidents have happened. This has led to an atmosphere of fear and terror in areas along the border.
Thousands of people have fled from border areas and 84 schools have been completely shut down,’’ he said. The Congress leader said that an undeclared proxy war has been declared by Pakistan which is resorting to the use of mortars and missiles on the border.
He alleged that the government’s policies were misleading the people, putting the national security in danger.
