Tonnes of groundnut was gutted in fire in godown of Rajkot

Tonnes of groundnut was gutted after a massive fire engulfed a godown in Shaper Veraval Godown in Rajkot. About 15-17 crore  groundnuts  gutted to fire.

The blaze erupted  in the godown and nearly a dozen fire tenders were still engaged in hectic efforts to douse the flames, it took 12 hours to douse the flame. Local Police and district collector  rushed to the spot. Fire fighters from the Shaper Veraval and Gondal were called to douse the flames.

Police has initiated the probe for the cause of fire. No reason for the fire has been identified. This has been second incident of Groundnut godown fire, A fire broke out in a warehouse near Gondal ,  gutting a huge stock of groundnut.  Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani ordered a CID probe fire. So far 5 people has been arrested.

Prior to that, over 62,000 bags (35kg each) worth over Rs 10 crore was gutted in fire in a warehouse at Gandhidham in Kutch.
