Star Sports Select Dugout expert and former Australian batsman Mark Waugh who is in India as an expert on #SelectDugout panel for the eleventh season of the IPL was all praises for the young talent of Delhi Daredevils, Prithvi Shaw, comparing the youngster to the cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar.
Talking about Prithvi Shaw’s batting technique, Star Sports Select Dugout expert Mark Waugh said, “The first thing you notice is his technique, it’s very similar to Sachin Tendulkar. His grip, his stance, he stays very still at the crease and plays all his shots around the wicket. The young Indian plays the ball quite late and is quite punchy in his stroke play and has an excellent base to play any shot from any bowler. He’s just so much like Sachin Tendulkar.”
Shaw has been a key figure in Delhi Daredevils’ hope of resurgence this season scoring 140 runs at a strike rate of 166.66 in the four games he has played so far. Shaw, hit a maiden half-century in only his second match of the ongoing IPL. The knock made him the joint-youngest cricketer to record a half-century in the IPL.
Following his record breaking show in the ICC U-19 World Tournament in Australia where he led India to the title, Daredevils picked him up in the player auction of the VIVO IPL. The youngster made his debut against Kings XI Punjab on the 23rd of April 2018 where he made an immediate impact with a score of 22 in 10 deliveries.
