Metro cash and carry, India’s largest organised wholesaler and food specialist, launched its first metro wholesale store at Tapovanroad in Nashik on Friday.
Nashik MP Mr Hemant Godse and Mr Arvind Mediratta, MD and CEO, Metro cash and carry India inaugurated the store in the presence of senior state government officials of Maharashtra.
The new Nashik store is the 26 wholesale store for METRO in India and the third in Maharashtra. The new Metro store will generate over 500 local jobs in addition to catering to customers from Nashik and its neighboring regions such as Kasara, Igatpuri,Yeola,Vani, Sangamner, Loni and Trimbakeshwar.
Reiterating the company’s commitment to sustainable expansion in the country, Mr Mediratta said,
”We have been optimistic about out presence in the West. After the overwhelming response to our two stores in Mumbai, we started mapping various location in Maharashtra.
”The Nashik store opening reinforces our commitment to the state. We are generating employment opportunities for over 500 youth in various operations directly and indirectly. Nashik has humongous potential and our new store compliments our strong distribution network in Maharashtra and Gujarat for western India. With our robust supply chain and continuous investment in digital innovation, we aim fulfill the demand of out growing customers base.” he added.
Metro, a Nashik store will offer over 6,000 products in both food and non-food and will cater to over 40,000 registered customers across the city, which includes over 5,000 kirana stores apart from Hotel and Restaurant Owners, Caterers (HoReCa), Services, Companies and Offices (SCOs) and self-employment professionals.
