The Centre on Monday sanctioned over Rs 1,000 crore to four disaster hit States and one Union Territory, a Home Ministry release said here.
A High Level Committee meeting held under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, granted financial assistance to the states of Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Rajasthan and UT Lakshadweep which were affected recently by the natural calamities.
The Ministry granted Rs 480 crore for Assam, affected by the flood and landslides during 2017-18, Rs 84.60 crore from National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF) to Himachal Pradesh, Rs 67.40 crore for the Sikkim.
The Government has also sanctioned Rs 2.16 crore for the UT of Lakshadweep, affected by the cyclone Ockhi recently and Rs 526.14 crore for Rajasthan which was badly hit by draught this year.
The Union Minister for Agriculture Radha Mohan Singh, Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba, Expenditure Secretary Ajay Narayan Jha and senior officers of the Ministries of Home Affairs, Finance and Agriculture and NITI Aayog attended the meeting.
